Trip

We started day three from Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Within a hour we hit Texas, the belt-buckle of the Bible Belt. As soon as we pass Amarillo, Texas, the land is flatten like a tortilla and the earth turns green like a tomatillo. The weather was soo hot that I had to surgically remove my undies by the end of the day.

I recommend that when crossing the empty flatland that is Texas you bring your music or else you'll be listening to country music or church talk radio for 2,000 miles.

After a long day and a long drive we entered Oklahoma territory. Along the way to Oklahoma City we stopped at the Oklahoma Cherokee Outpost which coincidently must have been owned and operated by Cherokees from a lost European offshoot of the tribe. The only people behind the counter were more like Scandinavians than Native Americans. We eat there, I had the Buffalo Burger. That buffalo burger went though me like a stampede.

Keep on trucking.. Our plan was to drive through Texas and arrive in Oklahoma City and visit the Red Earth Museum. Unfortunately we arrived in Oklahoma City at 4:30 PM and the museum closes at 5:00 PM. So instead we decided to hit the movie theater and watch Over the Hedge. After the movie we continued on to Fort Smith, Arkansas. On our third day on the road we covered 633 miles and traveled through four states, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
