I had a flight back to California in the mid afternoon so the plan was to spend the time around town. We cruised around, got lost in, and found again downtown Raleigh. We were hungry so we got sometime to eat at Snoopy's Hot Dog and More. I following my tradition in tasting the local fast food delicacies of a region I visit I ordered a BBQ sandwich w/ coleslaw and a side of stake house onion rings. After getting my grub on we headed to the town square where a where people were commemorating memorial day with gun salute and speeches giving by amputees. When they sang the national anthem the whole crowd sang in unison save us. I have to admit that this was one of the most patriotic events that I have witnessed in my life.
With still sometime before my flight we headed to the William B. Umstead State Park adjacent to RDU. We hiked for about two hours before I boared my plane.
